Javier Peres is pleased to present the "there's no fooling you (The Classics)" featuring Dan Attoe, Elliott Hundley and Raqib Shaw. This exhibition explores the renewed interest by contemporary artists in revisiting major art historical movements.
Dan Attoe received his MFA from The University of Iowa, and his BFA from the University of Wisconsin. He has had solo shows at Vilma Gold, London; 404 Arte Contemporanea, Naples; Peres Projects, Los Angeles. Recent group exhibitions include: "The Zine UnBound: Kults, Werewolves and Sarcastic Hippies," at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco; "Growing Up Absurd," Hebert Read Gallery, Kent, UK; "Napoli Presente," curated by Lorand Hegyi, Palazzo delle Arti Napoli (PAN); "New Figuration,, Galleri Christina Wilson, Copenhagen, and "Fictional Wonders/Real Hallucinations," Sioux City Art Center, Sioux City, Iowa.
Elliott Hundley received his MFA from UCLA in 2005, and his BFA from RISD. His work has been exhibited at Daniel Reich Gallery, NY; Andrea Rosen Gallery, NY; as well as in various venues in Los Angeles, including prior group exhibitions at Peres Projects. Hundley will be included in the exhibition "LAXed" at Peres Projects Berlin in April 2006 and will have his first solo museum exhibition at the Hammer Museum in May 2006. His work is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, the Judith Rothschild Foundation Collection at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Guggenheim Museum, New York and Collection of Dakis Joannou, Deste Foundation, Athens, Greece.
Raqib Shaw received his MA and BA from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. He has had solo exhibitions at Victoria Miro Gallery, London and Deitch Projects, NY. Shaw will have a solo museum exhibition at MOCA, North Miami in February while also participating in a group exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Shaw's works appear courtesy of Deitch Projects, New York.
"there's no fooling you (The Classics)" featuring Dan Attoe, Elliott Hundley and Raqib Shaw will be on view at Peres Projects Los Angeles (969 Chung King Road, LA) through February 11, 2006. Hours: Tuesday through Saturday, from 11:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.
